An echocardiogram, more commonly referred to as an ‘echo’, is an ultrasound scan of the heart. It is used to assess the structure and function of the heart and visualise the valves, heart chambers, heart muscle and blood flow to give a detailed picture of cardiac health. At Blue Valley, we offer both adult and paediatric echocardiograms.
Blue Valley Specilaist Medical Centre offers a modern non-invasive method of obtaining blood pressure readings over 24hrs, thus giving paitents the opportunity to do so in the comfort of their own environment. The monitor is attached to your arm for 24 hours, taking blood pressure readings at 30 and 60 minute intervals during the day.
An exercise tolerance test measures your heart’s rhythm and electrical activity and your blood pressure during exercise, and takes place on a treadmill within the clinic.
BVSMC is one of the few medical facilities in the country to provide 24/72 hr holter recording services to our clientele.
This is a measurement of the innermost two layers of the wall of the carotid artery. The measurement is usually made by external ultrasound. CIMT is used to detect the presence of atherosclerosis and detect atherosclerotic plaques.
